What in the world makes anyone expect special treatment in America simply because you are from Mexico???

On the other hand, given the success of illegal aleins getting welfare food stamps free medical care and bilingual education, maybe they really believe that if they whine and cry load enough they will get special treatment on this issue also.
Okay, I have to ask; do you personally know of any illegal aliens receiving welfare, food stamps, bilingual education, or free medical care (other than emergency treatment or routine inoculations for minors)? Do you have any idea whatsoever what the Mexican truckers might be protesting?

In 2005, there were only 168,225 two- and three-axle tractors in all of Mexico, according to the national agency that supervises Mexican trucking, the Direccion General de Autotransporte Federal. The 269,000 valid CDLs in Mexico include drivers of all commercial vehicles, including buses, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

This is what you are all afraid of?

Gimme a Break.

FWIW, there are several Mexican bus companies that have been operating in the US for some time, sometimes with US based companies as partners. Autobuses Crucero (partnered with Greyhound) Omnibus Mexicanos (a division of Omnibus de Mexico), Americanos (which is a partnership between Greyhound and the Mexican bus conglomerate Estrella Blanca) and Grupo Senda. There are a few others that operate along the border that I can't recall. Many offer same bus service between principal US cities beyond the border (Dallas, Houston,, Albuquerque, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tucson, Phoenix) and principle Mexican cities beyond the border (Chihuahua, Durango, Monterrey, Torreon, Mexico City, Guadalajara).

It's interesting that instead of protesting Mexican operators in the US, Greyhound made business partnerships.

I'm more concerned about them bringing those raggedy trucks over the border & driving them on our roads than anything else.

I don't have a link to the stories I've heard in various radio newscasts but this country's already seen a number of accidents involving Mexico based trucks.

I believe it's being kept as quiet as possible to keep it off the public's radar.
It would be bad publicity for the NAFTA crowd.

I also wonder how many more trucks are there now since our American companies became involved.

As to the Mexican truckers striking at the Amercian border; They're getting exactly what we get everyday.
I doubt that they're being ticketed for "no reason".
Some of those reasons might be chickenpoop but they are reasons nonetheless.
American drivers get the same treatment all over this country too.
The difference might be that "we" are spread out over the country more than they are.
Hence, there's less of us getting ticketed in the same place.
It's less noticeable here.

Would the DOT let you drive a "raggedy" truck?

So they're no different than poor white or black people.

The raggedy trucks they've been using on the border have only a slightly higher fail rate than the US average. That doesn't say much about OUR trucks, now does it?

Next thing you know they're going to blame the Minneapolis I-35 bridge collapse on Mexican trucks.

While I also strongly disagree with the way many of THESE people abuse the system, you can AT LEAST say: They are American citizens. (I guess that doesn't mean much anymore, though).
