Trucking company facing a big fine

Trucking company facing a big fine for permit violation in Cass...

KXMC, ND

Quote:
A trucking company is facing a big fine in Cass County.

Sheriff's Captain Rick Majerus (mah-JAYR'-us) says the rig was stopped by a deputy in Casselton.

Majerus says the driver was hauling the steel base for a wind tower and had let his permit lapse.

The fine is 18-thousand-800-dollars.

The wind tower base was made at DMI Industries in West Fargo.

The load of steel weighs about 120-thousand pounds. The driver was headed to Iowa.

Majerus says the rig will be held until the citation is paid.

Exclamation

It may be insane. But over weight permits could have avoided it.

Just last year a CFI driver was fined $16,600 for driving over a weight restricted bridge. That case was in VA. And of course, the driver was the one responsible, not CFI.

Yea, that 16,600 doesn't seem so bad for the community, especially when you consider a Bridge...I can remember as a kid when the police stopped a CRST for driving over the Galena St. Bridge in town...Built by American Bridge Co. Canton OH in 1856. and it'll support 20 Tons... and by god if that boy didn't snake it right across that bridge just fine....his big problem would have been going up the hill on Market St...No room when cars are parked...
