New Colorado chain law in effect New Colorado chain law in effect 10/23/07 Quote: Apparently, some truckers didn’t get the word that Colorado has a new, much stiffer chain law. Greg Fulton, president of the Colorado Motor Carriers Association, told “Land Line Now” on XM Satellite Radio that a snowstorm on Sunday, Oct. 21, caused numerous trucks to jackknife or just plain get stuck on Interstate 70 in the state. Fulton said the state patrol issued tickets ranging from $500 for not being chained up, to $1,000 for having no chains and causing a lane closure.
