Mexican national arrested for smuggling millions in stolen wedding dresses

Mexican national arrested for smuggling millions in stolen wedding dresses
Nov. 2007
Quote:
Seven months after suspicious customs agents pulled over a semi with a trailer full of stolen wedding dresses, U.S. authorities have arrested a Mexican national living in Arizona for his part in a scheme that must have been inspired by NAFTA.
According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Alejandro Parra-Ruiz, 32, a Mexico national and legal resident living in Laveen, AZ, hired a commercial truck driver to transport the dresses from Mexico into Arizona.
The Oregon-based Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation reported the dresses stolen in November 2006.

After the dresses were stolen, they apparently were taken south of the U.S.-Mexico border before customs agents noticed a suspicious truck and trailer attempting to enter the U.S. at the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales, AZ. Customs officials noticed the trailer was partially covered with masking tape.
Agents later found the words, “Making Memories” in script on the 40-foot trailer.
During a phone call monitored by ICE, Parra-Ruiz told Ivan Mesa-Esparza, a hired truck driver, to lie to customs and border patrol officials about where the dresses were picked up.

ICE officials said the dresses have been returned to the charity, which raises money to grant dying wishes to breast cancer patients, according to a news release from ICE.
“We were determined to find those responsible for the theft in this case,” said Alonzo Pena, special agent in charge of the ICE office of investigations in Arizona. “Stealing from a cancer charity is a despicable crime and I’m proud to say that ICE played a role in ensuring that these dresses made it to the charity for which they were intended.”

Yikes!! What scumbags ..... stealing from a charity to benefit breast cancer survivors.

Oh boy, and we're gonna trust these guys to honor US hours of service rules and drive safe trucks in our country? I know, I know, I'm painting a broad stroke with my brush here. It's still my opinion that we should drive trucks in our country and they should drive trucks in their country.

I like the part above that says, "Customs officials noticed the trailer was partially covered with masking tape.
Agents later found the words, “Making Memories” in script on the 40-foot trailer." How stupid can we get here? hahahahhaa
That reminds me of this idiot I met in Mobile Alabama, who pasted the number 100 on over the 1's on a few one dollar bills.... and then passed them off at a strip club..... but some how he got away with it, though I heard the bouncers questioned everyone at the club before they would let anyone leave.
I think they're pretty pathetic because they stole from a cancer benefit. That and the fact that they neither used paint or atleast slapped on some magnets over the words on the trailor..... well these guys that did this are the scum of the earth, and stupid as hell.

As for the comment about mexicans...... What's that have to do with Mexicans? The fact that they are Mexicans is irrelevant. Look at all the Americans that tried to make it big off of Katrina, and all the scams that popped up in California after those wild fires. Nationality has nothing to do with this.
Personally I think we should all be able to drive to any country we can..... even as far as South America. Think about it, more miles, means more money people. Drop and hooks at the borders is just transferring cash from your pocket to another drivers and vise versa. That's just my two cents on that.
