| most jobs, has its good and bad points Veteran driver says trucking, like most jobs, has its good and bad points 11/12/07 Quote:
MALVERN, Ark. — Local resident Stan Ramey doesn’t dance around the issue when asked what he likes most about driving big rigs for a living.
“I’m in it for the money,” he said. “I’ve got a mortgage and some other bills I’ve got to pay and trucking makes it possible.”
Ramey admits, however, that driving “is just something I’ve always liked to do, ever since I was a kid running the tractor on the family farm in northwest Arkansas.”
He’s always made a living, one way or another, off big trucks, having started out as a diesel mechanic, which is how he earned the unusual handle of “Fuel Injected.”
“While I still like both cars and trucks, I sometimes can’t take the people who drive them,” said Ramey. “But, what the heck, the way some people behave when they get behind the wheel is something that we just have to learn to live with.”
