Truck drivers may need to find a new place to park

Truck drivers may need to find a new place to park

Quote:
Semi-truck drivers that live in Rio Rancho may need to find a new place to park.
A city councilor is proposing an ordinance that would ban parking the big rigs in residential neighborhoods.
Margheritte Apodaca said that her husband parks their big rig on their property because there is no city law saying that they can't.
Apodaca said that they bought two separate lots so they could build their house on one, and park their truck on the other.
But now they may have to find a new spot to park the truck, because a city councilor is proposing an ordinance that would ban commercial vehicles from parking in residential neighborhoods.
City Councilor Marilyn Salzman said that she has received numerous complaints about the trucks being parked in residential neighborhoods.

I think Rio Rancho needs to enact an ordinance that prohibits the sale of homes to self-absorbed whiners...

Alot of towns are doing this. My town has less than 3000 and they enacted it in 2000. The weight limit on their commercial vehicles is 10,000 lbs.

The law is not clear on this. I have been told weight over 10,000, so I would assume actual.

this is a never ending problem, people want their toilet paper and food yet they do not want the trucks in their towns.a law needs to get passed that allows truck parking in every city and town in the US,or be subject to a delivery "surcharge" for moving the trucks out of the area after delivery.part of the dislike of trucks has to do with the public not understanding life on the road.we need a voice in government that represents our industry and the o/o who need to utilize their own property to safely store their equipment.most roads can easily handle the weight of a truck-the weight limits are only made as a restriction tool for the larger vehicles.a loaded garbage truck or firetruck has equal weights per tire as a loaded truck so that arguement does not hold water.

Okay, then if their car breaks down, and needs to be towed.. Is the guy with the car carrier supposed to push their car to the outskirts of town, in order to tow it to the repair shop?? Because the last time I looked, Henry's SMALL tow truck had a GVW of 11,200lbs. Hmmm that could be VERY interesting. Who is liable if an unsuspecting OUT OF AREA tow driver does pick up a car in that town, and gets pulled over? The driver? Or the one who had them do the job?

Just asking....

This, my friend, is a good idea! I live in a city with a population of 150,000. A MAJOR highway runs right on the outskirts. Trucks almost overwhelm the major streets in town, which does not bother me or mine in the least... we have a HUGE citrus industry here, and with that comes... TRUCKS!!! They are not however allowed to park here in town... nor are they allowed to park on the county roads... there are no parking lots they are allowed to use... and yet there are no truckstops nearby! The nearest one is over an hour away, on the far side of Fresno! Or, going south, it is an hour and a half, and that is with Bobby driving in a four wheeler!

I honestly believe Tulare County should be boycotted until the situation is rectified, and you guys have somewhere SAFE and CLEAN to park... but no-one much listens to me; I'm just the blonde.....

Trucks are allowed to enter the town. You just cannot park them on the residential areas such as when you come home.
