| I recently heard a rumour..you know how rumors go. Regarding night time detection of seat belt usage. The rumor, if it was a rumor. Was heard on a local radio station in Nashville, TN. It would seem, that TN isn't getting enough money now days, and is pressing for technology to catch "night time" violators of the seat belt laws. I scratched my head on this one for a few weeks, before deciding to post. The following link: [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. is a few years old, is very lengthy, and very boring. But, if you dig through it. You'll see exactly how they will start enforcing this law in pitch black darkness. Saving some of you the trouble of having to read it all. The NTSB is wanting manufactures to place indicator lights, alerting Law Enforcement of when a seatbelt is NOT in use at nighttime. The article isn't primarily about "night" detection. But, it goes into that detail. The article, is about reduced usage, allowing insurance companies to reduce their liability in the even of an accident while NOT wearing a seat belt. And covers the fact they want seat belt usage recorded in the "black box" to confirm it's usage or not during an accident. When it's all said and done, you quickly realize. It's always been about the money...not your safety. This country is going to hell in a handbasket....faster every day.
