Officials following tips in overpass shooting case

Officials following tips in overpass shooting case

Officials are following promising leads connected with recent overpass shootings that saw three tractor-trailers perforated with gunfire.

"We actually had an anonymous tip that gave us a first name," Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers said. "We're running that down, that may give us a good lead."

The shootings started at about 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 when a projectile struck the wi-ield of a North Carolina trucker traveling west on I-26.

A second trucker, from Tennessee, received a cut about two inches above her ear, either from broken glass or a bullet fragment, but declined medical treatment.

A third trucker, also from Tennessee, pulled over after hearing a noise. He found what appeared to be a bullet hole in his door.

Investigators determined the truckers all had one thing in common -- the location where the shots originated. It has since been determined that the Sunny Plains overpass was used as the shooter's platform. Sunny Plains Road, which has no access ramps to the interstate, yielded 10 spent shell casings to investigators.

Right, I bet the guy that went and shot up the trucks legally purchased and obtained the permits for the gun. Anti-gun laws only affect those who follow the law.

ARE YOU STILL IN BELGIUM???!!!

Because HERE, in the U.S., the criminals (i.e., people who shoot at innocent people) obviously DON'T ABIDE BY THE LAWS. (Because shooting at people is against the law, too, you know).

So in all honesty, it is people such as yourself that put the rest of us in danger. Your views are dangerous, ignorant, and very irresponsible.

I've never been to Belgium. But I can attest that there are hundreds of thugs with guns within 25 miles from my house right now. If WE had a law to turn in our guns, do you honestly think they would? Then where would that leave ME??!!

I'm glad you are not here. We have enough anti gun nuts in the US as it is. That will change soon enough. Just remember, If the blue hats start walking the streets of America there will be a full fledged war. The UN and NATO and their views are not welcomed or needed here. I will personally fight to defend the Constitution of the United States as written, no modern interpretations. If I die, then so be it.
