I worked for a Swift O/O co. several years ago and we had to 'jump thru their hoops' just as well as their co. drivers did! They kept losing our logs and then threatening us to produce them up to 3 months later!!
They are the epitome of what is wrong with American business---locked into profit (short-term, only!) & the stockholders, could care less about their employees!!

Didn't Jerry take Swift private last year?

ok why is the log auditor is always losing the logs? GRRRRR!
I get accused of that to however the last thing I try to do is lose a log image (ours are scanned in via truck stops). I try (overboard) to get the logs into my system. It is MORE work on us to contact you than it is to process that log. Now I don't know anyone that works at swift in the office so I can't speak for them.
Make sure your logs are in the system and turn them in every 7 days and keep them on the truck for # least 2 months. We are more current than that, we will let you know what you was missing for the last 2 weeks every week . We are the annoying one's l.o.l. although prior to scanning in logs, we was always behind, it just is harder than you think when you have many drivers (take the number of drivers x 30 + auditing them for false documents) DOT makes it hard on us bigger companies. -
Although Swift may have a slush fund for just such an occassion as this wreck, I have no doubt it will leave a nasty dent in their finances. Thereby possibly hampering their ability to do business. Which in turn could lead to closing the doors.
As for a driver being sent a message actually telling him/her to return to the terminal because they are closing the doors, I find that highly unlikely. They may have been told to return for other reasons. -
