Angry CA City Makes Move To Be Less Trucker Friendly

Quote:
FOUNTAIN VALLEY Big rigs that come to the city for bargain parking may soon have to roll out.
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to transform current commercial vehicle regulations by adopting an ordinance that would prohibit parking and would raise the fines for doing so from $49 to $100.
"Talking with truckers, we found out that we were considered kind of a truck-friendly city," said Lt. Mike Simko, traffic bureau commander for the Fountain Valley Police Department.
After getting numerous complaints from residents and area businesses about trucks obstructing views by their homes and blocking business traffic, Simko did a bit of investigating.
He found that trucks were able to park in the city because of a loophole in the city code that states that trucks are allowed to park on designated truck routes during the daytime.

I live in Los Angeles and "if" you can find parking there's always a cost even if it isn't always monetary. Residents complaining and calling the cops unnecessarily is a "cost".
