Truck driver arrested for DWI on I-10

Truck driver arrested for DWI on I-10
12/28/07
Kerrville Daily Times, TX -
Quote:
An 18-wheeler truck driver was arrested early Wednesday morning for driving while intoxicated.

A concerned driver called Kerrville Police Department to report the truck swerving across the lanes of Interstate 10 East near the 512 mile marker just before 7 a.m.

According to reports, police stopped the 48-year-old San Angelo man and found him to be impaired, but officers suspect that it was not with alcohol.

“His impairment was significant enough that he had to be taken off the road,” said KPD Public Information Officer Norma Martinez. “But we’re not sure exactly what caused his impairment.”

Officers were given consent to search the man’s truck and discovered prescription drugs not in a prescription bottle.

The driver was hauling a load from San Angelo to Laredo when he was stopped.

The man was charged with driving while intoxicated third or more times and possession of a controlled substance more than 3 grams and less than 28 grams. He was taken to the Kerr County Jail where his bond was set at $15,000.

I hate to seea trucker in trouble but in this case I'm glad. Case and point as to why you shouldn't 'drug up' and head out on the road, if that's really what happened.
