OPINION/Tunnel congestion: Drivers can’t read?

Tunnel congestion: Drivers can’t read?

I would like to reply to the gentleman that wrote the article about 18 wheelers hindering the traffic flow on I-77.

I am a local West Virginia man that has to drive an 18-wheeler to make a living for my family as there are no jobs here in the state of West Virginia. Driving these big rigs have you people out there realized that without us out there on the road away from our families that you all would not have your everyday needs.

Such as toilet paper, soap, and the ladies make-up, etc.

Now to address the problem at East River Tunnel and Big Walker Tunnel.

Drivers will get in the lane that is open. The four wheelers (cars) will get in the lane that is closed (they seem not to be able to read CLOSED LANE AHEAD). This creates a two-lane backup at the merging point, forcing them in front of other cars and BIG TRUCKS.

The big trucks, yes, do block the lane that ends so the lane that is open can travel more freely to help the flow of traffic.

So, if you are one of these people that can't read and in such a hurry to cause a back- up, go over the East River Mountain and quit crying or you could leave home a little earlier. Also get in the right lane. Police are looking at the big trucks; they should be looking at the ones that can't read THE LANE CLOSURE SIGNS!

Impeding Traffic

Boy, isn't that the truth.
It's the same problem no matter where you travel.
Motorists can't seem to get the idea that THEY are causing the congestion, or backup problem, with their "I'm more important than you" attitude. They ARE aware of the lane closure, but want to get to the front of everyone else...try to block everyone else (of less importance) from getting through the traffic mess first.

I always wonder where the Law is? What about vehicles impeding the flow of traffic law?
Does this situation not pertain to that law?
When 100+ vehicles in the right lane have to stop to allow another vehicle to "cut in," isn't that impeding traffic flow?

I heard somewhere, that for every 5 minutes of a traffic Jam, it takes 45 minutes to untangle it.
