| Story of Freightliner I read this today and thought it was kind of interesting, so i wanted to pass it along. Freightliner was started by the now defunct trucking company consolidated freightways. After meeting in vain with several truck manufacturers concerning his idea of building a lighter, more durable tractor for his fleet, President Leland James hired a group of engineers and launched Freightways Manufacturing Company in 1940. A couple years later, the name was changed to the Freightliner Corporation. And this is how Frieghtliner came about.  |
