Driver stabbed, robbed

Driver stabbed, robbed

Providence Journal, RI

Quote:

PROVIDENCE — A truck driver writing a bulk coffee delivery order at a Super Stop & Shop in the Manton neighborhood was stabbed and robbed of his wallet and vehicle at the supermarket loading dock yesterday morning, the police said.

Juan Castro, 33, of 70 South Union St., Pawtucket, said he was sitting in the truck at 850 Manton Ave. at about 7:30 a.m., preparing an invoice for the order, when he was attacked by three or four men, punched in the head and stabbed in the stomach. One of his assailants pulled his wallet, containing $300, credit cards and personal documents, from his pants pocket.

The robbers then stole his CafÉ Bustelo coffee delivery truck and drove away. The police received a telephone tip that the truck had been abandoned behind a strip shopping center at 550 Hartford Ave. in the Hartford neighborhood.

Castro was treated at Rhode Island Hospital for a shallow stab wound.

In another felony assault, the police are investigating the wounding of Nestor Angeles, 20, of 80 Whitmarsh St., Elmwood, who was stabbed when an argument erupted during a game of dominoes on New Year’s Day. Angeles was stabbed about six times with a steak knife in the back and stomach. Witnesses said some men were playing dominoes, with beer as the winnings, at a house at 83 Byfield St., South Providence, when an argument occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Outside the house, the police were told, Angeles allegedly struck another man with a beer bottle and the other man stabbed Angeles.

The police, who said yesterday that Angeles is recovering, said they have a suspect.

Our they only targeting hispanic men?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the protocol, if we're out on the road, and someone robs us of our wallets? We can't drive without that CDL, and Medical card.... so if it's stolen..... do we just sit there? How do we get back to get a new one so we're not penalized/lose our license for driving without it in such a scenario?

AGREED! The Officer would give you a card with a number of the report on it.

We go one further here where I work...DOT is also contacted and told of the situation.
