KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) It may be packed with cars and trucks almost round-the-clock year round, but the nation's truckers say it's the best road they've ridden on this year.
Truckers surveyed by Overdrive Magazine once again voted Interstate 40 in Tennessee as the best road in the nation.
Those same truckers also voted all of Tennessee roads, as a whole, #3 in the nation.
This is the second year in a row I-40 in Tennessee was ranked as the best road, and the ninth time in a row, Tennessee's roads ranked among the top five in the nation.
Also earning top honors this year from those guys cruising in the big rigs in the Volunteer State, Tennessee drivers.
They tied with Wyoming for third best drivers in the nation.
"These achievements speak volumes about the quality of Tennessee's transportation network," said Governor Bredesen. "I'm pleased to see the hard work of TDOT employees garner this recognition at a national level. Tennesseans can be proud to see the state's investment in its transportation system reflected so positively."
