Louisville, Ky., reportedly considering idling restrictions

Louisville, Ky., reportedly considering idling restrictions
1/17/08
Quote:
The Metro Air Pollution Control Board of Louisville, Ky., heard a report Wednesday, Jan. 16, from a task force recommending it consider adopting restrictions on motor vehicle idling, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported today, Jan. 17.

The 31-member community task force met more than 30 times last year to develop a report and 63 recommendations on how to control soot and other fine particles, according to the newspaper. The task force asked the board to form a committee to draft a rule for board consideration.

Board members agreed to begin weighing the proposals at their meeting next month, the Courier-Journal reported. The proposals also have been recommended by two other district advisory groups seeking to improve air quality.

Greater Louisville Inc., the metro chamber of commerce, has agreed with the recommendations, and a representative of the trucking industry has said it's willing to work to find a compromise on idling, according to the newspaper.

Told you.. Cali madness would spread.. Any county trying to make an extra buck or two is going to follow the crazy people in cali..
ridiculous...

Anybody who is considering putting such a law in place must be subjected to the same conditions at work and at home.. No air during the summer (subjected to the same rules they put amongst the trucker, example: unless its 100 out) and no heat during the winter (again same rules being applied to truckers, unless its below 20 ext..)

since California got away with it without a peep from the truckers, this is going to spread like wildfire, it looks like most people are not going to wake up until its too late

Average is $9000 to $10,000 installed. I'm thinking about getting a PonyPack brand. I really like the fact that they integrate with the current truck HVAC without adding another heater and AC equipment.
