Huntley weighs limits on street

Huntley weighs limits on street

The Courier News, IL
Quote:
HUNTLEY -- Lifting truck weight restrictions on Dean Street has been suggested as a way to relieve traffic congestion in the village.
But some residents are not keen about doing it for Dean.
Kurt Blanken of Woodcreek Drive commented at last week's village board meeting that Dean Street is "only 20 feet wide and cannot handle semi trucks."
Jill Cataldo and her family lived along Kathleen Drive in Huntley for 10 years until their home was taken by eminent domain for the widening of Algonquin Road. The family now lives along Dean Street.
"Why bring in more trucks?" she asked. "We don't need semi traffic."
Truck traffic coming from the north uses the Main Street/Church Street/Mill Street route to arrive at Dean Foods at the intersection of Dean and Mill.
Some Mill Street residents feel it would be fair if Dean Street was allowed to handle semi truck traffic.
