Sheriff warns truckers about weight limit

Sheriff warns truckers about weight limit
3/5/08
Morris Daily Herald, IL
Quote:
Grundy County Sheriff Terry Marketti has warned all truckers that weight limits on county and township roads will be enforced this spring.

In cooperation with the Grundy County Highway Department and the township road commissioners, Marketti said the posted weight limits will be enforced during the thawing period.

“The county roads are posted at nine tons and the township roads at eight tons during the thawing season,” Marketti said. “Heavy trucks driving on these posted roads during the thaw, cause thousands of dollars of damage each year to our county and township roads.”

Marketti said the county Office of Solid Waste has been working with the garbage haulers and residents in rural areas to set up drop off locations for garbage pickup, until the posted roads can again be used by the waste haulers.

Deputies will be watching for trucks using the roads in violation of the posted weight limits. More here..........................

They were out with the portables in my county. They thought they had caught a friend of mine in his dump truck on the road over the limit. He had a permit and it had 1 more hour left.

Saw them with a grain hauler and called my dump truck friend to let him know and he told me that they had just let him go.
