Idaho: $57M in Trucking Fees Proposed Idaho: $57M in Trucking Fees Proposed 3/6/08 Quote: BOISE, Idaho — Idaho senators aim to raise an additional $57 million per year to build and repair Idaho roads _ largely from truckers from out-of-state. It's part of the push to ease a $200 million shortfall in transportation funding. Senators Tim Corder, a Mountain Home Republican who owns a trucking company, and Shawn Keough, from Sandpoint, introduced the bill Wednesday to charge all trucks that weigh more than 60,000 pounds a $660 annual registration fee. The truck owners would then pay 4.5 cents for every mile they travel on Idaho roads. The current system, Corder says, lets out-of-state truckers drive Idaho roads without paying the full cost.
