Officer suspended for using excessive force on trucker

A Murfreesboro police officer will be suspended for 20 days without pay for using excessive force against a truck driver that didn't get out of his way. On Feb. 29, Officer Anthony Whitehead, an eight-year officer with the department, broke off his response to an injury car accident when a tractor-trailer pulled out in front of him on South Church Street.
After pulling the trucker over, Whitehead ordered the truck driver out the cab onto the ground and handcuffed him for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, police stated.

In a letter to Whitehead explaining his discipline, Chief Glenn Chrisman said an appropriate reaction would have been to issue a citation to the driver for not pulling over.
"In addition, it appears from the video recording of the contact that you are unable to control your anger and frustration with the driver," Chrisman states.

He added that Whitehead had used obscenities during the traffic stop.
Whitehead's personnel file shows he has received multiple disciplinary actions in the past, but none were for anything of a violent nature. He has been reprimanded previously for crashing his patrol car, multiple counts of tardiness and failure to show up for court.
Whitehead underwent a physiological evaluation on March 12 and was deemed fit to serve. He will be required to undergo anger and stress management and will be taken off motorcycle patrol and put back on regular patrol.

This cop is crap
I think he needs to be fired

Side note it was caught on camera, and also said he will be taken off motorcycle patrol
I didn't know they put cameras on bikes

Sounds to me like an irresponsible person who just does not like truckers.

There is no way I want to ever meet this person.

At the risk of upsetting some people.

It would most likely be the union.

We had a couple of them caught under DWI driving the squads off duty. They refused the test which is mandatory suspension of drivers license in our state. Union influence allowed them to keep working. They did not lose their license either.

It's no wonder people dont respect cops like they used to. This "I'm the law so I'm above it" mindset needs to be taken care of.

Wow. MULTIPLE disciplinary actions and he's still deemed fit to serve. He may not be violent now but eventually the power is going to get to him. Another crooked cop only gets a slap on the wrist.

When I started driving I enjoyed it. I was given a dispatch, picked up a load,dekivered it on time and was nevered bothered. Kept my truck and trailer in a safe condition as well as my paper work.
Those days are gone!
As an example with this police office, we are the scum of the roads. Thanks in large part by the Department of Transportation and it;s divisions. With less than 1% of accidents caused by BIG RIGS in our nation we have become a Bank on Wheels in reveniue both for local law inforcement and DOT checks.
I was fined 1,500.oo for a lose bracket when I was pulled in for inspection by DOT. The bracket could only be seen from under the truck when in a pit and posed no big saftey issuie. I told the DOT inspector that I do not have a pit to do a pre-trip, that was the only way to see the bracket. No good, I got fined anyway, think I should get X-Ray vision.

I remember I got pulled over in North Hampton Mass by a Trooper that hated Truckers..

He told me that he hated truckers and when I reminded him that the underwear that he was wearing came by the way of truck ...

Well needless to say he was not impressed by that statement what so ever and that Bozo gave me a ticket anyways

I agree and lot of those cops think that there above the law..Younger cops I have noticed are very arrogant
