Trucker trucks off with fuel

Trucker trucks off with felony fuel skip
4/10/08
Salina Journal, KS
Quote:
A bit of unfortunate history was made Wednesday night when the first known felony fuel skip occurred in Salina.
Deputy Saline Police Chief Carson Mansfield said the driver of a semitrailer rig provided bogus information through the intercom at the diesel fuel pumps to a clerk at Petro 2 truck stop, 2125 N. Ninth, and began fueling the truck at 8 p.m.

The driver pumped 261.57 gallons of diesel fuel — worth $1,022.50 — into the truck tanks. Meanwhile, the clerk was checking the driver’s information. By the time a computer alarm sounded at the counter signaling the information was false, the rig had left.
The high price of fuel made the theft a felony case, exceeding $1,000, Mansfield said.

“No one believes we’ve ever had a felony gas skip before,” he said.

I noticed that you would not call on the guy that inadvertently did damage. But consider this, the damage to the sign was probably more than the fuel this guy took.

Your reasoning does not make much sense.

We are supposed to be professionals and accountable for our actions.

Well since you probaly work for a company where drivers love to rat on each other along with every one else.Nothing would make sense to you.If you would take time to look at the pic no proof and the cameras do not move at these places There is nothing in photo to show it was even hit could have been damaged at any time If you dont like my way of thinking I can not help that.

I am an owner operator. I was just questioning your logic.

You had said you would not call in for the sign damage, because the driver was probably a family man and trying to provide for his family. The sign may have been damaged at a tune of 2500.00. You said this was if you had SEEN it you would not CALL on him.

Yet the trucker here left with only 1,000 an some change in fuel. Far less than the possible sign damage. You stated you WOULD call if for this.

I was just trying to understand is all.

I was wondering how long it'd be before someone would pull this kind of stunt.

OK Some places if there is a drive off of fuel, food are anything they deduct it from the cashiers check whish is not right in my books No its not right to drive off after doing damage are filling up with fuel. But not many Company drivers will fuel and drive off.Unless they get fuel bonusses The reason I will not call in on some things is I have seen trucks O/O and company drivers get blamed for things they did not do.I know of a guy got reported for hit and run on a rental car L.P. # was given people who rented car got on a plane but give info to rental co.Was proved by Police by taking measurements that he did not do it.This could have cost the driver his job.But if you want to call in that ok by me I have no problem with it.
