EPA orders trucking company to clean up fuel spill

EPA orders trucking company to clean up fuel spill
5/24/08
Quote:
POLSON, Mont. (AP) - The EPA has ordered a Billings trucking company to clean up the site near Flathead Lake where a tanker truck overturned and spilled almost 6,400 gallons of gasoline.
A news release issued late Thursday by the EPA's Denver office says recent samplings show that petroleum hydrocarbons have migrated into the lake.
The tanker is owned by Keller Transport. It overturned April 2nd on Montana 35 and forced five families who lived nearby from their lakeshore homes.
The order signals that the EPA has taken over jurisdiction of the cleanup. Keller Transport must provide a work plan within 25 days outlining future cleanup actions and providing a schedule for their completion.

Your right, something doesn't sound right about this. Why wasn't it cleaned up at the time of the accident? Sounds like they were trying to sweep this one under the rug.
