Truckers can be fined for sitting idle

Truckers can be fined for sitting idle

TAMPA - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has adopted a new rule prohibiting truck drivers from idling more than five minutes.
The agency estimates that every year big rigs dump about two million tons of carbon dioxide emissions into the air just from idling.

The temps here today are predicted to be
around 106 degrees. I bet those drivers laid-over in Ontario, SoCal are lovin' the
NO Idling laws.

Next thang I expect to hear is that smoking
isn't allowed --- except inside those Big trucks with all the windows rolled up -- where there'll be PLENTY of smokin' goin' on.
Even by the non-smokers.

Git'cher rest, drivers!
And remember --- in the Land-0-Fruits & Nutz --
sweating is illegal.
We're a NO-Sweat State.

The heat is so bad here I finally broke down and spent the money to fix my A/C... that should tell you something, because I am no spoiled little Miss! I tried driving that car just 20 miles with no A/C last week, with all the freakin windows down and I felt like my skin was blistering!

JUST ONCE I WANT TO PUT THE HEAD OF CARB IN THE CAB OF A TRUCK AND LET HER TRY TO GET SOME DAMN REST!!

They're not concerned with comfort.
NopE!
More important than that.
They're concerned with the RESULTS,
and how said results will reflect on
THEIR record.

The ends justify the means.
Or, so they tell us.

An investor might wanna consider watchin' those publicly traded APU manufactures makin' California legal products. I'm thinkin' they're gonna see a difference in their orders.

It seems goin' green --- could be deadly for some.

Another catch me if you can, and dodge 'em when ya can deal?
At this rate, runnin' LEGAL will be illegal.

Sounds like a double-whammy to ME, WallEyE.
Haw DARE you?!
You're goin' to jail!

Would you believe California actually tried to
enact an ordinance like that a few years ago.
The 76 truck stop near Sacramento wouldn't let drivers smoke ANYwhere, except when confined in a Big truck,........ or on the OTHER side of the chain link fence property line --- in a plowed weed field.
Welcome to California.

The reason it didn't pass was because those folks who have offices in their homes -- guess what?
YuP!
A "workplace".
OH!
And if y'all have a maid, butler, cook, and/or house-cleaner --- it's THEIR "workplace" -- NO SMOKING!

And those folks thought that to be an inconvenience.
Imagine that.

And NOW, as of JAN 1, this year, I think, if there's anyone under the age of 18 in a vehicle, parked or driven, Big or small, it's illegal to be smoking in that vehicle.

And we need a tape-measure to be sure active smokers aren't too close to ANY open eating area.

In the town I live in, smoking in the City Parks is against the law.
Even if you're the ONLY person there.
Well, ......... except of the cop who writes y'all up --- who just happened to be there, takin' his usual,
smoke break.

You drivers who think you'll be in California, and you have a ride-along under the age of 18
BE AWARE OF THIS !!!

That's a GOOD sign!
But remember, there ARE certain Big engines
that are legal to idle. There should be a tag on the hood
if they are.
