I got it all wrong in a recent column about how to make claims against rock haulers whose load spills and damages your vehicle. Or so says Greg McCann of Fort Worth, who has been in the trucking industry for almost three decades.

Oi..... Figures they'd quote the most ignorant reprobate to rebutt the original story. Does the industry a lot of good.

Strange article... I wonder where he got the stat that "Truckers kill about 30 people a day." Seems WAY too high and pretty out of context.

Also, I think that most insurance companies will replace that cracked windshield for free, regardless of the cause, at least for us 4-wheelers.

Thats double the statistics of deaths that I've seen by the causation study. I love how journalists make up statistics to make the story beefier.

Exactly... And to say that "Truckers Kill..." is just irresponsible. It would be more proper (although no less sad) to mention the number of fatal accidents that drivers were involved in, and possibly offer some suggestions on how 4-wheelers could help reduce this statistic (such as not tailgating, as the article suggests).

Just a few words can make a big difference in public perception.

Following too close is the only way to get a cracked windshield? Thats news to me. How about passing another truck on a 2 lane road? I got a nice moon shaped crack on my d/s glass passing another truck up in Oregon...and it wasnt a rock hauler. It was a dry van or reefer.
