Quote:
A federal grand jury has indicted a former South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper for kicking a dump truck driver in the head after a high-speed chase in May 2006.
Former South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper John B. Sawyer was indicted on a federal rights violation.
The indictment alleges that on May 28, 2006, Sawyer unnecessarily struck and repeatedly kicked Sergio Caridi, who was driving a dump truck and who was suspected of reckless driving on U.S. 301.

The world is full of crazy people and they are not all locked up, unfortunately, some are law enforcement officers. Or were as in this case.

Point to be learned - don't try to run.

The police have more technology than you can outrun, in most cases. Furthermore, don't expect them to be NICE to you if you lead them on a chase that gets their adrenaline pumping.

Personally, I think that driver deserved to have the sh*t kicked out of him for running in the first place - from WHAT? I realize there's the fight or flee instinct, but dang, don't be a butthead, just pull over! Better that than the alternative if those officers had been able to successfully fire their weapons and render the truck inoperable, or worse.

There are nutbag cops out there. There are nutbag criminals. It just strikes me funny that the driver could be bebopping along threatening everyone on the roadway with stupid driving and yet an officer, only assaulting ONE person, is in more trouble... nice.

I'd have kicked his tail, too. LOL
