The thing is if you listened to Lockridge lately there is talk that the CTA, ATA, OOIDA are all lobbying to bump the gross up to 90K.

Also, I was under the impression that the UCR [LINK POSTED BY MEMBER] Only Members Can View This Truck Forum Link. was set up to unify the industry.

True. But I believe Illinois was one to have accepted the 80,000.

But, it would not surprise me that they were one to not, since I really did not pay real close attention. I will have to do some research on this and satisfy curiousity.

Yes, I heard that the government put a stop to it. Drivers couldn't go cost to coast with 80,000 without paying somebody; scam deluex. One of the ways drivers worked around the 78,000 limit was that they would get in touch with a local who charged drivers $50.00 to off load 2,000 lbs on to a truck before the weight station. Then meet up after and load it back up.

There were only 3 other options. Pay the fine, or run coast to coast with 78,000 lbs, or only run western or eastern.

They don't give a rats azz about safety or anything like that, its all about the money. They sure don't care if they tie you up for ever or that you have a appointment time to meet. DOT is no better than a robber
