WASHINGTON -- The controversial Mexican truck pilot program may be coming to an end.
Mexican trucks would be barred from U.S. highways, and the Department of Transportation prohibited from enacting future cross-border programs for Mexican truckers under a measure introduced in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) introduced a bill this week that would prohibit DOT from granting "authority to a motor carrier domiciled in Mexico to operate beyond United States municipalities and commercial zones on the United States-Mexico border after September 6, 2008" unless the action is "expressly authorized by Congress."

When I see it I will believe it.. And I surly don't think they will kill it 100%

We Americans are going to have to go threw some hard times in order to get this country straight.. If we start cutting of programs like this and stop buying so much foreign products and start buying American made products, we will have to pay more at the stores. It will take time to get things back to the way it once was where American made products will be priced equal to foreign product. Free Trade would need to be adjusted in order for that to happen and we could not just cut off current trades totally without really hurting other countries. They need to work deals where they sell products to the world and not mostly to America... Because America needs to get back to "manufacturing most of our own products"...

ronnocomot explain how this will cost more American jobs i just dont see it it will just remove more drivers that can not competently comunicate in english with L.E.O.'s not that that will solve that problem but will remove one pool of drivers that are very likly to not to be compliant with that
