Swiping a card to pay at the pump? Crooks scam millions from drivers

Swiping a card to pay at the pump? Crooks scam millions from drivers
Aug. 2008

Quote:
Consumers already paying high diesel and gas prices reportedly have another adversary at the pump – out-of-sight thieves who skim credit and debit card info directly from truck stop and gas station card readers.
Skimming devices made of a plastic sleeve and wires that capture credit card information are glued inside or outside the pump and can be placed on the pump’s card reader or be connected directly, said Ed Donovan, a spokesman with the U.S. Secret Service.
The thieves are mixing the placement of the devices between gasoline and diesel pumps, he said.
While some identity theft comes through collusion of store employees, oftentimes, consumers can do little besides watch their credit card billing documents, Donovan said.

and another thing.....if you are a company driver and DON'T pay for the gas you put in your truck....if your company is paying for the fuel....do the people behind the counter a BIG favor.....DON'T complain about the price of fuel, cause guess what, THEY DONT CARE, and YOU AREN'T PAYING FOR IT ANYWAYS. Besides, nothing anybody can do.....so why do it??? Just makes you look DUMB.

Oh, and another thing, if your card dont swipe outside, and you are asked to bring the card in to get the pump started......just do it and shut up. whining about having to walk an extra 50-100 feet wont hurt ya. You could probably use the extra walk. Besides, it is company (the truck stop) procedure, isnt the fault of the person behind the counter....so quit being so rude. BE PROFSSIONAL. If you're having a bad day, doesn't mean you have to ruin someone elses day.

Wow so what are drivers to do?
In your opinion we all should just be quite and say nothing about things that affect our lives
See you get to go home when your done, OTR drivers must live it 24-7 for weeks at a time

Truck drivers have no choice but to put up with crappy employees at truck stops
But you do, if you don't like us find other work!!!!

He is headed off to be trained to be a driver by Swift, no less. He will have other things to complain about other than fuel prices, and cards that don't swipe.

there, fixed it for ya.

yeah i did work at a truck stop, but what gets me, is that drivers think it is the fault of the employee at the truck stop that they have to walk inside. I was by far a crappy employee. I try to crack jokes, and be FUN when a driver comes in, some, they seem to notice and kinda relax. Others just have no sense of humor, and others you cannot make happy if you pumped their fuel for them, told them it was free, cleaned their windows and headlights for them AND then weighed the truck for them.

Did Snowman Get Banned?

So I just noticed that snowman appears to be banned out of the blue ... what happened? What can we (yet to be banned folks) do to learn from this?
