I have mixed feeling on this issue... I can see both sides of this.. People who do use cell phones while they are driving that pay no attention to what they are supposed to be thinking about, are a very serious issue and are an accident just waiting to happen...

On the other hand there are people like myself who pays more attention to driving then the conversation... I always get yelled at by the by the women because she says I do not pay attention to her, I say your dag on right I don't because I am paying attention to driving.. When I drive and I am talking on the phone I totally will ignore people on the phone (not on purpose it just happens this way for me) and pay attention to to driving...

Now when talking to my buddies on the phone they understand because they know I am doing what I should be doing and that's driving.. I have to ask them to repeat many things because I go blank in our conversation paying attention to traffic.. I would say for "me" It is no more then listening to a radio while I drive..

Now as usual people who do not do this (nothing wrong with that, does not make me any more special then they are) don't recognize it or don't care.. My suspicions are most know they suck at driving while talking on the phone but they "choose" to continue their dangerous actions.. So, this leads to people to taking responsibility in their actions (their responsibilities in being a safe driver) you can compare these people to Truck drivers who continue to push themselves when they know they are tired.. The irresponsible will make it bad for everybody and continue i making our freedom disappear..

Like I said I can see where a law would be good for the dangerous and irresponsible people who continue their dangerous habits knowing they should not.. Just sucks for the people who can do it and pose no real danger

Well fortunately their are already laws in place to protect these people.....
actually it is persons with disabilities act.............hahahahaha

The BIGGER ISSUE FOR YOUR QUERE' IS.............DECIDING WHO IS A DUMBARS.......................ROFLMAO

I would love to see the requirments for that one.............LMAO

Will their be a first time offenders program...........?

This situation is not that different than most other things. Here is a situation where you have a mass of people looking to be regulated by a standard where so many people are different.

The same with DOT time rules.........Some people can drive for more than 11 hours just fine others cannot. Some people can multi-task, others cannot. The laws are being made to ATTEMPT to protect the masses themselves............

Let's take a moment and look back at teh evolution here; what did we do before cell phones.........? What do we do now......?
Things got done when you called in/home whatever.
Now things have to get done yesterday...........but do they really.....?

I have been driving for a career for over 20 years...........when I am driving, that is all I am doing. Nothing has happened that could not wait.
When I was not driving I would/will talk. My family and friends know this. What are the alternatives...........do you really want the possibility of an accident from missing that blink of an eye moment while driving 18-40 tons. Less than a second can decide whether someone lives or dies.
