I wonder how they will get around the probable cause provision that states police cannot simply randomly pick out otherwise innocent drivers to pull over.

If your in a commercial vehicle you surly can be pulled over for no reason at all.. It's called a random inspection and they can pull you over anytime for it....

I have a very close friend that works for a local police department. They get Federal Grant money that is actually tied in with how many tickets they write! So whenever it is approaching the end of the month and they are behind schedule you will suddenly see them everywhere. Maybe it's the same for Ohio. Here it is the end of August....Hmmmm.

The company that I used to pull the bucket for must have seen this coming. They pulled all of their leased drivers in for "random" drug screens last tuesday, and last friday the patrol had 5 out of 14 trucks pulled over through out the day. For some reason, I wasn't invited!

i'm getting the impression that big trucks are rolling cash boxes for police departments. i heard this interview on the radio with a host of small-town police chiefs and they openly admit that tickets are the only way they can generate revenue and that sometimes, the amount of revenue they generate is just obscene.

border towns claim the same thing from "drug raids". need a new police car? let's go bust a drug trafficking operation. not because taking drugs off the street is the right thing to do ... but because they need the money from it.

I ran up to Wooster from KY yesterday and back today . Saw quite a few bears on I-71 , more on the Northbound side than Southbound but the right lane was rolling along at the usual 60 m.p.h. . Several of the bears seemed to be watching more more speeders than anything else .
