Neighbors Oppose Parked Trucks Along I-83

Neighbors Oppose Parked Trucks Along I-83

PARKTON, Md. (WJZ) ―
Every day, tens of thousands of motorists travel down Interstate 83 on their way to and through Baltimore.

But as Mike Schuh reports, some neighbors say there are accidents waiting to happen parked right along the roadway.
Neighbors say it goes something like this: welcome to Maryland and park wherever you want.
"Someone's going to die, and it's going to be real sad when that's a family. Then what's going to happen? They're going to start handing out tickets," said Tim Hall, who lives near I-83.

How hard is it to put a damn rest stop there?
A trucker driving beyond his hours is an accident waiting to happen.

Dont see any problem with this, those neighbors have nothing else to do except *****----there is plenty of room, and the trucks parked there dont interfere with traffic, and not once have i seen an accident caused by them pulling over there. Fine then if they want them to continue on past their hours, fine so be it, but when they wreck into you, you will have a caniption and want the state to put a rest area/truck stop there. i travel that route pretty regualry to go to Baltimore for business-never any issues

In previous years, the state has tried to build a rest stop in the Parkton area, but protests from residents forced cancellation of those plans.
This kinda stuff makes me just have to shake my head in wonder. They don't want the trucks parked along the road, but they don't want a rest stop, either.

People amaze me. Or maybe I've just been living in the country too long...

No Ducks, you haven't been living in the country too long. These NIMBY's are a total annoyance. They want their toys at the local store, but then whine about doing anything to accommodate those who deliver their tech toys, food, and everything else.

I guess when a tired Driver's have accidents and their morning commute to work becomes a several hour ordeal they may rethink opening a new truck stop.
