Driver saluted as Highway Angel Driver saluted as Highway Angel 9/13/08 Quote: Truck driver Darien Smith of West Monroe, La., has been recognized as a Highway Angel by the Truckload Carriers Association for his bravery in keeping fire away from a woman trapped inside a burning vehicle. Smith, a driver for Dupre' Transport of Lafayette, La., was traveling on I-20 in Louisiana when he saw a vehicle on the side of the road.
