1,500 pounds of pot seized after traffic stop 1,500 pounds of pot seized after traffic stop 9/16/08 Arizona Daily Star, AZ Quote: A routine traffic stop west of Benson resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old man and the seizure of 1,500 pounds of marijuana from a commercial vehicle Friday. An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer stopped the vehicle for an unsafe lane use violation on Interstate 10 about 4 miles west of Benson when he observed indicators of criminal activity, according to a news release. He used his drug-sniffing dog, which alerted to the truck, the release said. The truck was taken to a Wal-Mart in Benson where workers assisted in off loading the cargo. At that point, officers found the marijuana, which was sandwiched between the load of produce that the truck was hauling, the release said. A loaded pistol was also found.
