Nopark Permanent closure for Rest Areas

Permanent closure planned for both Indiana I-74 rest areas in late January
12/15/08
Quote:
WAYNETOWN, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plans to close the I-74 eastbound and westbound Waynetown rest areas at mile marker 24 in late January as part of a strategic plan for similar facilities around the state.

“Plans for rest areas, as with all INDOT projects are made according to budget and time, and are designed to meet the needs of the motoring public,” said INDOT Crawfordsville District Deputy Commissioner Alan Plunkett. “INDOT aims to maintain a high level of service to motorists while making smart choices about taxpayer money.”

USA

Guess IN DOT thinks there is too much parking available near the rest areas they plan to close... and is that $370,000 real dollars they will save? Or will it jut be spent some place else in the state budget? Oh and most likely not on bridge or road repair...

I would imagine they're not the only state that is going to think this is a good idea. They're not right, but they're going to think they are.

Parking for rigs is scarce enough as it is, so lets take away more of it. Logic and business or government never seem to go hand in hand.

Less room to park means more money in tickets.
