Developers threaten to block segment of Old Dixie Highway Developers threaten to block segment of Old Dixie Highway they own in Indian River County TCPalm, FL Quote: INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Developers of a proposed freight-trucking center on a one-lane segment of Old Dixie Highway threatened Wednesday to build a wall across the private-owned road now that the County Commission has declined to take it on for maintenance. “That’s public traffic on a private roadway and that could mean liability,” project engineer Todd Smith said. Smith and his client, Ocean Concrete Inc. President George Maib, seek to build a truck center on 8.6 acres southwest of the Florida East Coast Railway crossing at Old Dixie Highway, just outside Sebastian city limits.
