Merge Wisconsin plans to create California-style diesel, global warming rules

Wisconsin plans to create California-style diesel, global warming rules

Professional drivers have long viewed California as one of the toughest states to drive truck in, but one Midwestern state may be fast on its heels.
The Wisconsin Global Warming Task Force recently approved a host of recommendations for the state to use to cut greenhouse gas emissions. The list includes several proposals that could drastically affect trucking.
In 2007, Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle created the Global Warming Task Force to look at the effects of global warming and at possible solutions to problems caused by emissions.

Oh jezz it was just a matter of time... WI is going CA. Why is it they always see trucking as a place to cut the so called green house gasses? Then we have speed limiters on top of that. I hope they plan on putting speed limiters on four wheelers too. Don't see that happening... The only part of this I see that is right is enforce the current speed limit... Now that's a novel idea!

Wisconsin . . . The midwest version of Commifornia. Definitely time to move out of this state soon!

Let's see these states start enforcing speed limits on the 4-wheelers too. They want to pick on big rigs, but let the gas sucking SUV's continue to roll down the interstate at 75 or 80 miles an hour, instead of enforcing speed limits on ALL vehicles.

Our governor is an idiot.

Well if they pass that anti idle law here then I really think that they need to "STATE SPONSOR" idle air in all truck stops. As all of us truckers know when it drops below 40 degrees those trucks start to get mighty chilly. I'd like to see the state reps be in a truck and only idle for 5 min. They wouldn't last.

That they should. Hey it gets mighty hard to sleep when temps get above 75 degrees in a truck, and that doesnt mean it's 75 outside either. Case in point. I have an APU oon the truck I drive now, it is 58 outside, the Apu just kicked on and is cooling my truck down 'cuz it is 74 inside and my windows are down... go figure. LOL I did reach over and turn it off but you know some little office puke would be crying 'cuz it's too hot in the truck or when it's down around 40 it's too cold. I do think the lawmakers should be made to come and spend some time about a week in a truck running thru all kinds of weather before they can pass laws that affect drivers health and saftey. That is what they are unknowingly doing when they pass those kinds of laws.

As a born and raised farm girl, Wisconsin cows have always been happy!

California is a copy-cat wannabe on the dairy state thing.
