Tireiron California DMV cuts hours

California DMV cuts hours

Quote:
Truckers who need to do business with the California Department of Motor Vehicles will find those offices closed two weekdays each month as the state cuts back on services to reduce its $42 billion deficit. Other state departments are also closing on certain days to save money.
A letter from the DMV says the offices will shut down on the first and third Friday of each month, beginning Feb. 6. The DMV says not only will there be no employees at the offices, but there will also be no assistance by e-mail or telephone on those days.
In addition, Saturday service was recently discontinued.

Oh ... good idea, but they should take it further. They should close the coops and park the cruisers too ... every day.

WOW, anyone who has ever been to a DMV in southern California will scream when they run into this. I'm in Georgia now (almost far enough away from a CA DMV for comfort) but I've got friends there.

DMV in Torrance, CA - There were about 30 people working the counters, and on any day, about 400 people waiting in line. There was a line to a "welcome desk" just inside the door that would stretch out the front doors (50 to 60 people there) to point you to which line you had to stand in next. This was the only DMV worth going to in the south bay area (about 5 million people nearby), the rest were in the ghetto or 3 hours in traffic away. Even then, a friend of mine bought a VW bug back in the 80's - went there to title it - and 3 hours later when he was done realized his car had been stolen from their parking lot - dohhh. At least he could report it stolen at that point.....

You've just got to wonder what they do with the revenue they collect out of all this - it cost about $700 a year to register a late model car or pickup - and more for title and tax every single time a vehicle is sold. Count that up sometime when you're parking on the "freeway" in 12 lanes of stopped traffic 5 miles deep. Apparently their governor went "Terminator" on their bank accounts! Gone from CA for 8 years, and I'm never going back

Couldn't happen to a better place. Too bad that Guy's Lady, Ken and others will suffer. Maybe the rubes out there will finally wake up and see that the way they are running things are a disaster. Bet they'd pay big money to have old Ronnie back as Gov.
