Cross-border truck plan is being revisited Cross-border truck plan is being revisited 2/7/09 Houston Chronicle, United States Quote: SAN ANTONIO — Congress resumes consideration of the U.S.-Mexico cross-border trucking pilot program this week when the Senate takes up the Department of Transportation’s appropriations bill. “The talk on the streets of Washington is about how the Obama administration treats cross-border trucking will be a litmus test on bilateral relations with Mexico,” Kyle Burns, Free Trade Alliance president and chief executive, said last week after returning from a Washington visit with federal transportation officials. No kidding... are they nuts? Unemployment hitting record highs and an economy nearly mirroring post WWII and they want to export local jobs... I'm guessing they are going for the cheaper by the dozen measure regardless of how many more people get thrown to the unemployment line. How they plan on paying for the massive unemployment/wel-fare is beyond me since they already depleted social security with no intent to pay it back.
