Snow Hundreds Stranded In Amarillo

Hundreds Stranded In Amarillo

Quote:
AMARILLO---Closed roads and canceled flights left hundreds of people stranded here in Amarillo.
The Red Cross, The Salvation Army and law enforcement answered the call and teamed-up to help those who couldn't leave. Dave Bolt wasn't planning on staying in Amarillo, he was on his way to California.
But mother nature had other plans for him.
"The visibility was anywhere from 150 feet to 150 yards," says Bolt.
He was one of hundreds of trucker drivers stranded in Amarillo because of yesterday's blizzard.

Reminds me of the blizzard in early 2007 that cost me almost a full day in Amarillo. TX has the worst snow removal techniques ever.

I didn't think they had snow plows there.

They don't, they just open the boarder and give everyone shovels thinking the illegals will be thankful and do their part to help society.

That's why they need plows.

My son lives there. Here's a photo of his back yard. Notice how it snowed underneath their awning, particularly the bird house :

I was in SC one time when they got 2 inches of snow. Whole town shut down, snow removal was an F150 filled with sand with 2 guys with shovels throwing the sand onto the road.

I was stuck in this......when they opened it up (FINALLY) the roads were BONE dry. There were a couple puddles in Dumas I had to drive through and that was it.

I'm thinking they could've opened the roads back up a little sooner!! (AARRRGGGHH!!!!!)
