| as for seatbelts, I really could care less what the law says, I wear one because most of the roads in this country are horrible, I originally started wearing a seatbelt in a big truck simply as a way to stay in my seat while driving the speedlimit, most of the roads felt like I was riding a bull I know a few states here and there have actually fixed the roads while the rest of them just took our tax dollars and ran, but for the most part, the roads in every state need help seems to me that we would all be better served if the LEO's would investigate and prosecute those responsible for these bad roads, find out where our money went and prosecute the criminals that failed to spend it where it was needed that makes more sense to me than issuing tickets for failure to strap yourself in |

Therefore, the blame on the deterioration of the roads does indeed fall back on the state and their disregard for laying up to standard asphalt IMHO.OR the pocket stuffers and the road building companies doing the substandard work. |

| A difficult job Quote:

should be at the top of everyones list. That is why I feel police officers have a very hard job. I have been told before, "Two officers approached my car with hands on their guns like I was dangerous.", and I imagine the above quote might be a good reason. I have driven in all lower 48 states and Canada. I had a clean record for a long time(recently had a single truck accident) but have not been without fault. I have had only encountered a few that I consider "bad cops". Most were, at the least civil, and many were just plain nice. I did find that U.S. customs was a different story so do not go to Canada any more. My wife and I have horror stories involving U.S. customs. I had one scale officer( a lady) that had a very bad attitute but it was to every one in the room and then me. A friend and I was hauling cars through Co. and was directed to report in. The scale was loaded up and we were in line. The officer was being snotty and loud with everyone. When it was my turn she told me(and my friend) to come with her as she picked up a ruler. She measured the overhang on both trucks and the overall length. She had us hold the tape, and with a lot of slack took a measurement. I mentioned this and she informed me she knew what she was doing. Back in the scale house she wrote an overlength ticket and was not nice. As she was giving my friend a ticket I grabbed a camera and took a few shots and pulled out. Truckers were chatting on the C.B. about her and I made the comment that I thought she just needed to get laid. My buddy got into his truck and was laughing so hard he had a problem explaining himself. It seems I forgot that I had my box on the low side and when I made the comment I was close to the scale house. He said my comment filled the building and there was hysterical reaction from the other officers(and drivers) and all but the lady could not refrain from laughing. Both of our trucks were Boydston easy-loads with fixed 5th wheels. The tractors and trailers were built together and conformed to specks.
