This article shows how out of touch the ATA is with the industry it claims to represent.

Accelerating out of a dangerous situation.

Done when moving from the right lane, into the left lane, passing slower moving traffic.

God forbid you actually have the power to accelerate on around the slow vehicle, and open the left lane up to even faster traffic in a timely manner.

Therefore, the ATA wants to create dangerous situations for everyone involved. By insuring BOTH lanes remain blocked for at least 2-10 miles.

It is done to hurt the competition! That is all. they have NO regard to safety period. I see first hand every week how these split speeds cause problems! If they want to slow the trucks down they should do the same to cars!

If the gubmint is so concerned about "GREEN" , THEN WHY LIMIT THE TRUCKS IN THE FIRST PLACE? (sorry didn't mean to yell at y'all)(and I'm too lazy to retype it)

I am not a mechanic, I will be the first to admit I know what the part is thats making all the racket, but what it does exactly, (my contribution to more jobs) I leave that up to someone trained and qualified to adjust or fix!

Now these trained and qualified people I have talked to, and asked about this issue, have told me, that these engines are designed to work most efficiently at FULL HORSEPOWER, not a limited range, but FULL. By limiting the output, aren't they just making the situation worse...ecologically....and as it has been mentioned, the safety factor, I am sure we all agree this "safety factor" is a non-issue with gubmint!

You're right . When ATA petitioned for the speed limiters three years ago they could not provide one bit of data to say speed limiters improve safety . Only 8% of accidents have excessive speed as a factor . Of that 8% , in 80% of the accidents the "excessive speed " is less than 65 m.p.h. . Ever notice whose trucks are speeding in 55 m.p.h.zones and construction zones ?

OK, I'll bite! (Ducking and running from Nana's pointy stick)

    SWIFTY ?:biggrin_255:

Can I get a reservation for the back of the cookie line?:biggrin_25526:

BTW, in 2007, 62% of ALL Swift accidents were in construction zones...fact from being there and having to take the extra Mentor classes to "learn to teach" safety in construction zones!
