$14.6M verdict for trucker

$14.6M verdict for trucker

Quote:
National Casualty Co. is expected to appeal a $14.6 million verdict awarded to a Florida trucker, paralyzed in an accident that ensued when he swerved to avoid a driver who ran a stop sign.

On June 23, a Broward County jury awarded Derry Brown, Jr., 64, of Pakohee, the verdict after a week-long trial. He was paralyzed in an 2007 accident on State Road 80, with another vehicle that did not stop and cut off Brown, who was hauling a load of sugar in his 1998 Freightliner truck.

Nope...based on the article. i do believe said 4 wheeler didn't even check up.

He's having to sue his own insurance company.

Why on earth does the insurance company feel they should appeal the verdict?? I hope the appeals court judge dismisses their appeal.

They're an insurance company, that's why.

My insurance company accused me of robbing my own house. And plainly stated they believed it was because I was hurting for money.

That theory worked good, for about 15 minutes. Then I produced my tax returns for the past 3 years, along with my credit history and bank account information.

I got my check, then cancelled my policy with that company.
