New traffic safety laws taking effect in Kansas

New traffic safety laws taking effect in Kansas

Quote:
TOPEKA, Kan. — Motorists in Kansas face some new rules of the road Wednesday as a pair of highway safety laws take effect.

One law applies only to multi-lane highways outside the limits of any city. If the highway has at least two lanes in each direction, drivers may use the far left lane only to pass another vehicle, prepare for a left turn or make room an emergency vehicle.

The other new law applies to drivers of vehicles transporting non-hazardous materials. If they’re involved in a non-injury accident, they’re to move to the shoulder or the nearest exit.

The Kansas Highway Patrol notes that for a year, violating either new law will result in a warning ticket. On July 1, 2010, motorists will face a $60 fine.

Great now if they will just enforce the new law on this LEFT HAND RIDERS.
It is to also be a law here in NC also but they do not enforce it, I see law enforce ride behind left hand riders and do nothing.

I wish it was strictly enforced.I have even seen some trucks not even get
back in the right lane.Only thing i can think of is newbie drivers.I wouldn't think experienced truck drivers would do that.

I never ride in the right lane,I MEAN NEVER !
Worst lane to be in 99% of the time, whether its multi-lane surface streets or Interstate.Experienced Drivers dont get "trapped"
