Truck Driver With Puppy Shipment Arrested

Truck Driver With Puppy Shipment Arrested
Quote:
BOSTON -- Dozens of sick puppies were recovering Thursday and a truck driver was placed under arrest when while he was delivering a shipment of dogs to Webster. The dogs were en route to a local pet store, police said.

Animal rescue veterinarians said the 51 pups were dehydrated and weak, crammed inside an unmarked box truck that did not have working fans.

They were reportedly surrounded by flies and waste. The officer who was called to the scene contacted Webster paramedics. Investigators said the dogs were being delivered to Elite Puppies at 172 Main St. in Webster, a pet shop Team 5 discovered has sold dogs from puppy mills in the past.

The truck driver, John T. Clayton, 39, of Missouri, was taken into custody. Police said he told them he had left from California Monday night and the dogs had not been walked since then, according to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

I have no mercy for someone that can be so cruel! I wonder what kind of instructions he was given when he picked up the load? Surely common sense has to come into play here!

Sure arrest the driver for not giving the dogs a 1st class transport service.

Yet who will arrest the dirt bag bean counters at major trucking outfits that make drivers sweat it out in 100F becuase they have a "no idle" policy.

Obviusly the comfort of dogs is held to a much higher priority than the comfort of lowly truck drivers.

Probably because the driver has the capability to get out of the truck and go to a different environment.

What if you are supposed to be resting on your DOT break? Are you supposed to fund a hotel room each night on your own dime? What if there is no hotel available?

Dogs are not driving 80,000 pounds of rolling mayhem on the roads.

It is what they want. I am sure the motel industry is quite glad. As far as your own dime, I am sure the companies would want that as well.

When they removed the regulation of the trucking industry, they opened it up for the vultures that are depriving the working driver of peace.
