There’s usually some good news mixed with the bad. While most in the industry wish diesel was under $2.00 a gallon, at least it’s nowhere near last summer’s record high of $4.764 per gallon. On Monday the average U.S. price per gallon was $2.625.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts retail diesel prices to be $2.46 a gallon for the remainder of this year, but in 2010, prices are expected to increase to $2.84 per gallon based on projected oil prices, according to its short-term energy outlook released Aug. 11.
