Illinois to expand width limit Illinois to expand width limit Quote: Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed legislation that will raise the legal limit on vehicle width from 96 to 102 inches on Class III highways, nondesignated highways and local roads. Prior to passage of the legislation, 102-inch-wide vehicles were restricted to Class I and Class II highways only.
