Trucker says he was tied up, kidnapped in Missouri
Quote:
A truck driver told police he was tied up in broad daylight and taken for a ride by two thugs outside a St. Louis-area truck stop.

Det. Larry Cook of the Pacific, MO, police department said sheriff’s deputies in Jefferson County responded to a man who was tied up and honking his truck horn at Highway 109 and Missouri Highway W around midday on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The driver told deputies that he had left a Pilot Travel Center near Pacific after grabbing breakfast late Tuesday morning when he was approached by a man who he believed had a gun. The man forced him into the truck, the driver told authorities, tied him up and put him in the truck’s sleeper.

At least he survived, and got to keep his truck. Could have been a lot worse.

Heh, and they want us to sleep with our windows down so we don't have to idle... geesh.

Glad the guy is ok though. That had to scary.

That pilot isn't in a bad place either, seems like opportunists. They found a sucker. He thought the guy might have had a gun? So he didn't see one and let the guy tie him up and drive off with his truck anyway. Nice. Don't be a sucker.

Its not always easy to know if they really do have a gun or not...and if you guess wrong its too bad for you.

Instead of "Dont be a sucker"...you should have said "don't appear to be easy prey" (and even that wont always work)

If the guy did have a gun...you would have been tied up in that truck too.

If it had been me...me or the 2 "thugs" would have been dead (can't say for sure which...but thats how it would have ended)

Nope, I've been held up with a gun by three guys at once. They did not get a dime since I had the presence of mind to look at the gun and notice that it was a starter pistol. I was also broke and they were morons.

Nobody is tying me up without a fight to the death, especially if they only imply they have a weapon. They'd better pull it out and level it at me before I close the distance. And to tie me up they'd have to use both hands, which means the gun will not be aimed at me, if only for a moment.

The possibility of being tied up with two nutcases driving my truck wherever is more than enough to send me way over the edge. They could be planning to skin me alive and eat me for all I know. Hell with that, I'll rip their eyeballs out or something, anything.

You're right about easy prey. I must be the meanest or craziest looking person out there because I've never been messed with anywhere. I'm kind of disappointed.

I think you sorta contradicted yourself there...

And 2 guys...one would tie you up while the other held the gun on you.

Disarming somebody with a pistol pointed at you can be done...but its VERY, VERY near to commiting suicide and should only be attempted as a last resort (as in you're about to be shot anyway)

I have been told by a reliable source that people taste like pig. And I do like some pork chops, hhahahahahahaha!

Ah, yup, I did, sort of. The hold up actually happened in high school in the classroom. Yay for public education, right? I meant that I was expecting something to happen traveling all over the country into some really bad places and it never has.

Like I said, I figure if they're determined enough to tie me up and take off with me, they're probably going to kill me anyway, or worse. I'll fight.
