Old truckers never die, they just park it

Old School: Old truckers never die, they just park it

Quote:
We seldom do stories about a truck driver’s retirement, but once in a great, great while we make an exception. This is one of those times.

I first met Bill Richards, aka Broadway Bill, in 2003. I drove from The Trucker offices in Little Rock to his trucking company’s headquarters in Ardmore, Okla., for a ride-along to the Left Coast.

At the time of his retirement, he was driving for the Ardmore-based Carrell Trucking Co. Before he got into the big rigs, he ran Broadway Towing in Ardmore. That’s how he got his nickname. He eventually sold the business to his partner, John Runge. Runge then sold it to Bill’s son, Jeff, a year later.
