Dulles toll increase would pay for mass transit

Dulles toll increase would pay for mass transit
Quote:
The public authority that controls the Dulles Toll Road has proposed raising tolls on cars and trucks to help pay for a mass transit project serving the Washington Dulles International Airport.

The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority unveiled its proposal in June. It calls for $2.77 billion in revenue from a toll increase to pay for more than half of the $5.26 billion Metrorail Project. Other Metrorail funds would come from regional sources and the federal government.

If approved by the airport board of directors, the first toll increase would take effect Jan. 1, 2010
