FRUIT AND VEGETABLE TRUCK RATE REPORT U Didnt know this id U?

This is for you L/P drivers and lease drivers who think they are getting a good deal on their Fleece er lease program. This is published weekly and is from the Government. Most brokers don't want you to see anything like this but it's one of the tools they use on a daily basis. Just go down to the area you are in. It's pretty self explanatory. Now are you being treated fairly or should I say are you getting YOUR share of the freight? HMMMM? Let your friends see this and then start to talk! If you are using a broker look at how much he's RIPPING YOU OFF just for pushing a few papers! OK the chart didn't show up correctly but you're on line just hit the link and see it there and it might even update this friday.

FRUIT AND VEGETABLE TRUCK RATE REPORT, WEEK ENDING TUESDAY AUGUST 18 2009

Rates quoted represent open (spot) market sales that shippers or
receivers pay, depending on basis of sale, per load, including
brokers' fees for shipments in truck load volume to a single destination.
Extra charges for delivery to terminal markets, multi-pickup and multi-drop
shipments are not included unless otherwise stated. Rates are based on
the most usual loads in 48-53 foot refrigerated trailers from the origin
shipping area to the destination receiving city. The ten cities of
destination are Atlanta, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland; Boston, Massachusetts;
Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Miami, Florida;
New York, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Seattle, Washington.

A surplus of trucks was reported for the following commodities and regions:
mangoes, tomatoes and mixed vegetables from Mexico Crossings Through Nogales,
Arizona, potatoes from Big Lake and Central Minnesota, melons from Delaware,
Maryland and Eastern Shore Virginia, North Carolina, sweet potatoes from
Mississippi, onions from Southern New Mexico, peaches from Georgia and South
Carolina, citrus, avocados, mangoes and mixed fruits and vegetables from Mexico
crossings through Texas. A slight surplus of trucks was reported for the following
commodities and regions: pears from Sacramento & San Joaquin Valley California,
lettuce, mixed vegetables, strawberries and raspberries from Salinas-Watsonville
California, mixed vegetables and strawberries from Santa Maria California,
avocadoes from South District California. A slight shortage of trucks was
reported for the following commodities and regions: carrots and grapes from
Kern District California. All other districts reported an adequate supply of trucks.
FIRST REPORT was issued for potatoes from Twin Falls-Burley District & Western Idaho
and Central Wisconsin. LAST REPORT was issued for onions from San Joaquin Valley
California and Southern New Mexico, peaches from Georgia.

FIRST PRICE RANGE FOR WEEK OF AUGUST 12-18 2009
SECOND PRICE MOSTLY FOR TUESDAY AUGUST 18 2009

PERCENTAGE OF CHANGE FROM TUESDAY AUGUST 11 2009 SHOWN IN ().

In areas where rates are based on package rates, per-load rates were
derived by multiplying the package rate by the number of packages in
the most usual load in a 48-53 foot trailer.

My hubby says, "as long as I'm getting paid, WELL over and above what I'm paying for my purchase payment, and I'm still bringing in $900-1375.00 a week, what does THAT mean to me?? In another 18 months, I will own this truck, OUTRIGHT."

This truck is a 2007 Western Star. In another year and a half, it is paid off, will still be in EXCELLENT condition, because we TAKE GOOD CARE of it, and can take it to ANY trucking company we choose, if we decide to leave the company he is currently with.

I understand that a lot of lease/purchase programs are ####...and maybe even this one, considering we don't get the money from the freight that a true O/O with own authority does.

But, for us, we are doing well the way we are doing things, and in less than two years, we have a choice to get our own authority, lease our truck TO the company we are with, etc.

Lease/purchase is NOT always bad for EVERYONE...
